Liberty Ghost Tour was created by Keith Maynard, a lifelong Philadelphian who knows Old City better than most. Before he was telling ghost stories, Keith was hauling rugs, water jugs, and beer through its streets on different delivery jobs. With every stop he picked up more than freight—he picked up the stories. He also studied history both independently and in college, giving him a deep appreciation for the revolutionary roots and eerie lore of his hometown.
In 2014, Keith wrote and performed his first ghost tour—not for tourists, but for his kids, Ben (3) and Lucy (1). Walking them through cobblestoned streets, he shared spooky tales grounded in history. That moment planted the seed for what would become Liberty Ghost Tour.
Unlike traditional tours, Liberty Ghost Tour is self-guided. You move at your own pace, linger where the atmosphere feels heavy, and skip the awkward group dynamic. It’s ninety minutes of history and hauntings, flexible enough to do in one night or over several.
Keith’s mission is simple: give history buffs and ghost enthusiasts an authentic, independent way to experience Philadelphia. The goal isn’t just to teach or scare—it’s to make you feel like you were there.
